SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Fort Pulaski National Mounument will host the 2013 Great Backyard Bird Count Feb. 15-18. Bird watchers of all ages are invited to participate.

The event invites avid bird watchers the opprotunity to take part in the national bird count event within Fort Pulaski.

From Feb. 15-18, the public will be offered the chance to attend an array of events, including a guided bird walk on Feb.16 at 8 a.m. with Nicholas Martens and Maureen Leong-Kee, members of the Ogeechee Audubon Society. 

Participants will be on the lookout for marsh sparrows, shorebirds, and sedge wrens.  

This special program is free of charge and is sure to please every bird watcher no matter their expertise level.

For those interested in participating, pick up a Bird checklist at the Fort Pulaski Visitor Center upon arrival on any of the given days and plan to count for at least 15 minutes. When finished, enter bird count lists at www.BirdCount.org. The numbers will be used as the park's annual bird count.
